The 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD is the first model in a new class of ultra telephoto zoom lenses for mirrorless camera systems with a full-frame sensor. Its 8x Zoom covers an exceptionally versatile focal length range: from the 50mm standard lens with a relatively wide angle of view and normal depth of field to the 400mm ultra-telephoto, whose narrow field of view allows a greatly enlarged image. The 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 is remarkably compact with a length of only 185.8 mm and a low weight of 1,180 g, yet offers an incomparably high imaging performance at all focal lengths.

The optical construction of the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 includes several special glass elements that ensure high imaging performance over the entire Zoom range. The lens features the VXD (Voice-coile Xtreme-torque Drive) autofocus technology developed by Tamron, which is based on a particularly quiet and fast-acting linear motor. The VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilizer, also developed in-house by Tamron, helps to achieve sharp images in low-light situations. The short close-up distance of the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 enables macro shots at a scale of 1:2 (0.5x magnification). At a focal length of 50mm, the shortest focusing distance is only 25cm.

The ultra telephoto zoom lens impresses with its ease of use and revised housing design. The tube has a scratch-resistant surface and is comfortable to hold, even when photographing for long periods, while the adjustment elements are optimally positioned and can be operated intuitively. The uniform filter size (Ø67mm) of the Tamron 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 ensures that filters and protective caps fit all lenses in the series.

The 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 is compatible with the TAMRON Lens Utility, which can be used to customize the operation of the lens. For the first time, the "FocusLimiter" function is also available, which can be used to limit the focus range in order to achieve even faster focusing.

A tripod clamp (Arca-Swiss compatible) is available as an optional accessory for use with a tripod.
