The ZEISS Batis autofocus lenses have been specially developed for Sony full-frame mirrorless system cameras. The lenses are fully compatible with all E-mount cameras and offer dust and splash protection in addition to fast and quiet autofocus. For creative work, distance and depth of field can be read on the innovative OLED display. The fast ZEISS Batis family offers perfect imaging performance thanks to the completely newly developed optics design.

A lens with relatively few glass-to-air surfaces, developed by Dr. Ludwig Bertele at ZEISS in 1930, it was the fastest lens for 35 mm photography at the time, with apertures up to 1:1.5 and high contrast thanks to good stray light behavior. High light and high contrast is where the name comes from, derived from the word sun, the symbol for greatest brightness.
