Novoflex BAL-NEX Automatic Bellows for Sony E-mount

The classic way to macro and micro photography is through the bellows. The BAL-NEX fully automatic bellows unit was specially developed for use with mirrorless cameras with Sony E-mount and lenses, transferring all functions between camera and lens. Matching lenses can even be attached to the bellows in retro position using an optionally available reducing ring.

The BAL-NEX automatic bellows is of course fully integrated into the NOVOFLEX adapter system and can also be used with other lenses for special applications.

Every photographer is free to choose which lens to use with the automatic bellows. However, if you are looking for the best possible image quality, you will be happy with the FLEX-APO-DIGI90. This is a high-resolution and apochromatically corrected lens head, which is available as an option. In addition to the excellent imaging quality, this optic offers an amazingly wide focusing range that extends from 1:1 to infinity.

Even those who prefer to work with manual objectives do not have to do without the NOVOFLEX automatic bellows, because, as usual with NOVOFLEX, the automatic bellows fits into the large NOVOFLEX modular system and can be combined with all kinds of NOVOFLEX accessories.

Function and task of a bellows unit in general:

• Continuous extension = distance between sensor plane
  and lens (=image distance); thereby a continuous approach to
  small objects in order to be able to photograph them full frame.
• Telephoto lenses can be focused much closer than their closest focusing distance
  (without bellows); thus telephoto perspective in the close-up range
  and above all large working distance (no disturbance of the object,
  space for additional illumination).
• With the standard and especially wide-angle lenses (from the camera range)
  enlarged images = macro images; over 1:1 up to approx. 7:1
• On the tripod: an optionally available adjustment slide is used for focusing
  without moving the bellows extension (=image width) or the tripod; i.e. the focus zone can be
  focus zone can be relocated, while the magnification remains constant.
