Jobu Design Black Widow Jr. 3 Deluxe
The Jobu Design Jr.3 Deluxe (BWG-J3KDLX) Gimbal Head is a lightweight, compact swing head. At 680 grams, it is the lightest Jobu Gimbal Head on the market. A combination of a carbon tripod with this swing head is ideal for photographers who travel a lot.
Swing head with hollow base arm
The Jobu Design Black Widow Jr.3 Deluxe is based on the Jr.3, but by using a hollow base arm made of aluminum, this gimbal head is extra lightweight. The difference between this and the normal Jr. 3 is the detachable swivel arm, which in the case of the Deluxe has an integrated quick release. The arm is machined from a block of solid aluminum, not cast. Which makes the Jr. 3 not only lightweight, but also extremely solid. Of course, you will need a quick release plate to attach your lens.
Gimbal Head for combinations up to 5 kilos
This Gimbal Head is designed for lenses and cameras weighing up to 5 kilograms. So a combination with a camera with 70-200 mm f/2.8, 100-400 mm or 300 mm f/2.8 is no problem. The Jobu Design Jr.3 Deluxe may be able to support and balance a 500 mm f/4 in combination with a professional DSLR. Still, Jobu recommends a heavier DMG-HD4 or Pro2 swinghead if this combination is used on a daily basis. The Jr.3 Deluxe will fit on any tripod with a standard 3/8-inch tripod thread.
Designed for more freedom of movement
A Jobu design swing head, also known as a swing head or gimbal head, is designed to provide complete freedom of movement. The tripod head supports a camera with lens at its natural balancing point, preventing it from tilting unwantedly. Actually, you hang the photo camera with (telephoto) lens in a swinging bracket, hence the name swinging head. This is ideal for nature photography, aircraft spotting, and equestrian sports, for example. When using a large Canon or Nikon lens, Jobu Design recommends using a Jobu replacement lens base, such as LF-C604 or LF-N604. A replacement base will lower the center of gravity of the lens.
