Jobu Design Heavy Duty Gimbal Head MkIV

The Jobu Design Heavy Duty Gimbal Head MkIV is ideal for heavier lenses of average length. This gimbal head picks up where the Heavy Duty MkIII leaves off. It's slightly lighter, but just as easy to use and can support just as much weight.

Swing Head or Gimbal Head

The Jobu Design Heavy Duty Mk IV (DMG-HD4) swing head, is designed to provide complete freedom of movement. The tripod head supports a camera with lens at its natural balancing point so that it does not tilt unwantedly. Actually, you hang the photo camera with (telephoto) lens in a swinging bracket, hence the name swinging head. These are ideal for nature photography, aircraft spotting and equestrian sports.

New CNC swing arm

The BWG-HD4 weighs only 1010 grams. The new CNC swing arm has been upgraded with a horizontal arm machined from solid aluminum, providing better control for large lenses in terms of vibration. The powder coating of the main component and the black anodized aluminum components make this swing head sustainable and weather resistant.

At the same time, the Jobu Design BWG-HD4 is particularly smooth to use. The same needle bearing as the Jr.3 Swing Head provides unprecedented smoothness and fluid movement of the tilt axis during operation, and even with a heavy camera and lens combination, horizontal friction remains zero. Rubber-covered friction adjustment knobs make for great operation, making this swing head easy to align even when wearing gloves.

Vibration head in combination with a robust tripod

The BWG-HD4 is suitable for lenses and cameras weighing up to 7.5 kilograms. A 600 mm f/4 with pro-body is no problem at all. Jobu Design recommends using the swing head in combination with a rugged tripod with a 3/8-inch tripod screw, a Jobu Design Surefoot lens plate (or other Arca-Swiss compatible lens plate), and a lens with a loose tripod pod. Short focal length and wide angle lenses can be used with the special W.A.A. adapter. The MkIV comes with the Surefoot SF-NXK lens plate included. This 3 inch lens plate is suitable for smaller lenses and camera bodies.
