It also features RAW output and timecode sync functions that make it highly expandable.

It offers advanced performance and functionality for a truly high-quality cinematic expression. Industry-leading Sony image sensor technology provides high sensitivity, low noise and wide dynamic range, delivering 4K Super 35 resolution for stunning image quality. The ILME-FX30 features S-Cinetone™, adopted from digital cinema cameras such as Sony's VENICE 2. and delivers natural midtones as well as soft colors and gorgeous highlights that are essential for cinematic expression. Three modes are available for recording, with the S-Log3 gamma curve providing smooth color gradation in cinema. Imported custom assignment LUTs can be recorded to minimize color correction in post-production. Dual Base ISO (800 / 2500) allows the best quality images to be captured in a variety of lighting conditions.

Advanced AF performance

The ILME-FX30 provides highly reliable and accurate autofocus performance with wide-area tracking across the entire image. With real-time eye AF that follows the face and eyes (for people and animals), the subject stays in focus. Focus is maintained precisely and consistently over a wide range, even at shallow depth of field or when tracking fast-moving subjects with real-time tracking. Stable AF and flexible focusing are available for a variety of shooting situations. AF Assist, Focus Map, and Breathing Compensation are great assist features.

Compact and cage-less design

The ILME-FX30 has a compact and lightweight form factor designed for portability and efficiency. The body has five threaded holes for accessories, eliminating the need for a cage, and features an XLR grip for optimal flexibility, stability and comfort during extended handheld shooting. Built-in stabilization keeps the entire setup highly mobile, which can support demanding shooting situations without a gimbal.

Quickly access your favorite elements with the new main menu. Focus on composition and framing with the optimized standby mode for movie shooting. Shooting lights and highlighted shooting indicators provide clear confirmation of the shot in progress. Flexible, high-resolution touchscreen LCD monitor allows wide positioning and compositional freedom for gimbal shooting. The Zoomlever controls compatible motorized Zoom lenses and allows Clear Image Zoom to be used with non-motorized Zoom and fixed focal lengths with superb image quality. Auto and manual modes for aperture, shutter speed, and ISO can be set independently for flexible exposure modes. Vertical side markers to check image framing in horizontal orientation.

Highly expandable

Dual XLR audio inputs enable high-quality audio recording. With an optional XLR microphone, digital audio can be transmitted directly to the camera for superior audio quality with a very clean audio signal. Other connections include USB Type-C®, multi/micro USB, microphone, headphones, and a Multi Interface Shoe with built-in digital audio interface. All of these connectivity options provide broad expandability for a variety of recording needs. The ILME-FX30 also supports UVC (USB Video Class) and UAC (USB Audio Class) standards, and can be connected to a compatible device via USB to serve as a high-performance webcam.
