Many professional formats and features

Because the controls are arranged as you're used to Sony and because of its rugged construction, you can always rely on this camera. It supports many different formats, including XAVC-Long, DVCAM, MPEG HD422/MPEG HD* and Proxy 1080i. Two SD slots, 3G SDI output, and a remote terminal ensure it can handle any workflow scenario.

4K 1/3" 3CMOS Sensor

The PXW-Z190 is the first professional camcorder with a 4K (QFHD) 1/3" sensor. Within the Exmor RTM system, red, blue and green are independently captured by separate image sensors at up to 60fps at 3840 x 2160 resolution. Even when you're delivering in HD, 4:2:2 10-bit shooting captures detail and image texture that HD sensors simply can't.

25x Professional Zoom Lens with Three Independent Rings and Long Focal Length

The PXW-Z190 is equipped with a 25x professional Zoom lens that can zoom from 28.8mm to 720mm (equivalent to 35mm). The 1/3" lens has three independent control rings that allow better and faster manual adjustment of focus, Zoom and iris. In HD mode, the image can be enlarged without loss of quality, and an image equivalent to 50x Zoom is captured with the sensor extender for cropping.

Advanced Face Detection Autofocus

The PXW-Z190 is equipped with the newly developed Face Detection Autofocus. You can choose between "Face Priority AF" and "Face Only AF." Just keep the person in the frame. When you move the PXW-Z190 to get a better angle, the focus on the person remains razor sharp.

Integrated Electronic Adjustable ND Filter

The groundbreaking integration of the electronic adjustable ND filter into a camcorder enables fast, agile shooting. With the PXW-Z190, switching between shaded indoor areas and bright outdoor areas is no longer a problem. Unlike conventional optical ND filters, the PXW-Z190's ND filter can be linearly controlled from 1/4 ND to 1/128 ND. Full automatic ND control is also possible. Even depth of field can be manually adjusted with the aperture ring, and the PXW-Z190 keeps exposure constant without changing gain or shutter speed.

Instant HDR workflow

Shoot, edit and view HDR content in HLG - without additional color correction. A shift to HDR is currently taking place with premium content. The PXW-Z190 is ready for this transition: It features a Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) recording function for simple file-based workflows, while delivering the image quality of HDR. This simple workflow allows HDR content to be captured, edited, and displayed in HLG without spending a lot of time on post-processing and additional color correction.

Network workflow flexibility

The PXW-Z190 comes standard with 5 GHz* or 2.4 GHz WLAN. Just turn it on and log in to your preferred network. Install the Content Browser Mobile app** on your smartphone for convenient remote control of iris, Zoom, white balance focus, and other functions. One-touch authentication is also possible with smartphones that have NFC connectivity. In addition, the PXW-Z190 can be easily upgraded to provide all the functions below with the optional CBKZ-SLNW1 license.

Two SD media slots

The camcorder is equipped with two slots for SD memory cards that can record in Simul, Relay, or Back-up modes. Simul mode allows simultaneous recording to two memory cards, which is ideal for archiving. In Relay mode, recording automatically continues on the second memory card when the first is full to extend recording times. In Back-up mode, the user can set the PXW-Z190's two start/stop buttons, located on the handle and camcorder body, to start/stop recording independently on different memory cards when Simul mode is applied.

Dual XLR connector and 4-channel audio

The PXW-Z190 provides 4-channel audio recording with two independent volume controls that allow precise control of external audio inputs, including a microphone connected via the MI shoe.

Dual MI Accessory Shoe (Multi Interface)

The MI Shoe provides signal connections and coordinated on/off switching for compatible accessories from Sony. The ports on the front and back of the camcorder provide even more flexibility. For example, you can connect and control Sony's wireless microphone systems, such as UWP-D11 or UWP-D12, and the HVL-LBPC light at the same time.* Wireless connection prevents accidental disconnection.
