Rode Interview Pro
Digital Handheld Transmitter
Wireless microphone and handheld recorder in one: The elegant 26 cm long reportage microphone can not only be paired with any current RØDE wireless receiver - currently Wireless ME, Wireless GO II, Wireless PRO, RØDECaster Duo, RØDECaster Pro II and Streamer X - but also offers an on-board recording function with its own REC button and built-in 32 GB memory for 40 hours of uncompressed audio.
Thesound quality of the Interview PRO is at its best: crystal clear, undistorted and with the best possible speech intelligibility
.The microphone capsule
The Interview PRO uses a high-quality condenser capsule with an omnidirectional characteristic typical of the genre. The advantage of this is that the microphone has no proximity effect, i.e. without the noticeable increase in low frequencies at close microphone distances. In practice, this can therefore vary during recording without drastically changing the sound. As an "omnidirectional" microphone, it is also sensitive to sound from all directions. Unlike a cardioid microphone, it does not always have to be perfectly aligned with the sound source - the Interview PRO is extremely forgiving if the interviewee moves their head.
GainAssist technology
Very helpful is GainAssist, an intelligent automatic gain control system that permanently adjusts the microphone's internal gain setting to the respective sound source. In this way, you are protected from surprises and the audio signal is always transmitted or recorded at a healthy level and with the best possible intelligibility. Incidentally, the maximum sound pressure level is a whopping 122 dB, which means that the Interview PRO can also be used to record extremely loud interview partners without risking distortion.
On-board recording
The Interview PRO offers a recording function directly in the microphone and an internal 32 GB audio memory for this purpose, which is sufficient for more than 40 hours. The recording is uncompressed as a WAV file. The REC button on the back of the microphone is used to start and stop recording. When recording is active, the button lights up red. There is another button below the REC button that can be used to mute the microphone if required. In conjunction with the Wireless PRO receiver, the Interview PRO can also record SMPTE timecode.
32-bit float audio
Interview PRO is also the first handheld transmitter in the world to deliver 32-bit floating point audio. The advantage: as long as you do not exceed the limit sound pressure level of 122 dB, it is virtually impossible to distort the signal through digital clipping. Very loud passages with flattened peaks can be compensated for during post-production by normalizing in a DAW compatible with 32-bit float.
Power supply and digital output
The Interview PRO has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that allows up to 30 hours of operation. A USB-C port is embedded in the base of the microphone, which can be used to charge the battery. The digital output of the on-board recording is also carried out via this socket; a SuperSpeed USB cable is included for this purpose. The digital audio transmission requires Windows 10, Mac OS 11, Android 11 or iOS 14 as the operating system
.Note:
No receiver is included in the scope of delivery, without a Wireless ME, Wireless GO II, Wireless PRO or RØDECaster DUO, RØDECaster Pro II or Streamer X, the Interview PRO cannot be used in a radio link. However, operation as a handheld recorder is possible at any time.
