Details

The Rode NT1 5th Generation Black is a studio condenser microphone that combines the classic, signature sound of NT1 microphones with state-of-the-art, next-generation technology. It features Rodes (patent pending) dual XLR and USB connectors, 32-bit digital output, and advanced DSP, while delivering a warm sound with extremely low noise and high sensitivity - features for which NT1 microphones are very popular. The Rode NT1 5th Generation is a true "studio all-rounder" and is suitable for recording vocals and spoken word, guitars, piano, drums, percussion, and other instruments.

Included

are a padded microphone holder, pop filter, and XLR and USB cables

RØDE's legendary large-diaphragm bestseller in a spectacular, retread and cutting-edge version

. The

NT1 5th Generation impresses with an incredibly low inherent noise, its high limiting sound pressure level and the unchanged silky-transparent sound of its predecessor.

Brand new is the "Dual Connect" connector in the base - with XLR3-M (analog) and USB-C (digital). The NT1 5th Generation can be operated classically with a preamp or audio interface, as well as connected directly to a computer. With its ultra-low noise Revolution preamp, audiophile 192 kHz A/D converter and 32-bit floating point audio, the NT1 5th Generation is also a premium USB microphone with top-notch signal quality.

Two tips: Use RØDE's "RØDE Central" configuration software to update the NT1 5th Generation with the latest firmware. And if you use RØDE's free streaming/recording software "RØDE Connect," you can use the built-in DSP chip to add high-pass filter, noise gate, compressor and aphex to the signal while it's still in the microphone - an ideal feature for podcasters and streamers.

With its minimal self-noise of only 4 dBA (a world record!), the NT1 5th Generation is also suitable for extremely quiet instruments, provided you operate it with a quality interface. Or you can use the built-in high-tech preamp/converter right away and go directly into the computer via the included USB-C cable. With a limiting sound pressure level of now 142 dB, there's nothing to stop you from using the NT1 5th Generation for recording guitar and bass amps, miked brass instruments, as drum overheads, or for other very loud sound sources.

Speaking of loud sound sources, the NT1 5th Generation is the first microphone in the world to deliver 32-bit floating point audio. The advantage is obvious: as long as you do not exceed the limiting sound pressure level of 142 dB, it is virtually impossible to distort the signal through incorrect gain settings or digital clipping. On the contrary, only with 32-bit floating point is it possible to fully exploit the microphone's enormous dynamic range, even with surprising jumps in level, and to subsequently compensate for flattened level peaks by normalizing them when recording in the DAW.
