The gold-coated RODE-1/2" diaphragm of the 11.8 cm cardioid condenser microphone, in conjunction with the high-quality components on the SMD board, guarantees the highest transmission quality. Like most RODE microphones, the NT5 features a subtle presence boost that adds a silky sheen to the recorded signal.

Although also available separately (NT5-S), the NT5-MP has become one of RODE's best-selling items for a reason. At an astonishingly low price, you get a selected and perfectly matched pair of microphones, which is perfectly suited for XY and AB miking, among other applications.

The application possibilities are manifold: the NT5s are ideal for string or choir recordings and as overheads. However, due to the robust workmanship, the good-natured NT5s are also frequently used in sound reinforcement applications. Incidentally, the NT5s fulfill all that is expected of a good small-diaphragm microphone in a classic design, namely a crystal-clear and balanced sound for snare and hi-hat, for woodwinds of all kinds as well as acoustic stringed instruments and percussion, in short: for all sound sources with important transients.

The cardioid capsule of the NT5 can be easily unscrewed and replaced with the optionally available "NT45-O": this way you get a true omnidirectional microphone!
