Probably the most modern shotgun microphone on the market at the moment. It is the first of its kind to offer a presence boost that can be switched on at the body. If you use a fur windshield for outdoor recordings, the presence boost compensates for the unavoidable drop in treble already in the microphone - without increased noise, of course.

The NTG4 requires phantom power. In this respect, only operation with large video cameras or with professional radio links is possible, which provide this supply current - either 12, 24 or 48 volts at the microphone input.

The side inlet slots - this applies to all shotgun microphones - are fundamentally important for their operation and must therefore never be taped off or covered in any other way. The only exceptions are the enclosed foam windscreen or an optional fur windscreen.
