The NTG4+ sits squarely between the classic NTG-2 and the top-of-the-line NTG-3 within the RØDE lineup. Inherent noise and sensitivity have been significantly improved over the NTG-2. An absolute novelty is the integrated lithium battery, a battery change is no longer necessary. The battery life is more than 150 hours, with the included MicroUSB cable, the NTG4+ can be fully recharged within two hours. Of course, the NTG4+ can also be operated with phantom power, in which case the battery is neither loaded nor charged. New are the electronic switch buttons on the microphone housing, with which pre-attenuation, high-pass filter and - also a novelty for shotgun microphones - a presence boost can be activated. The latter is ideal for compensating for the unavoidable drop in treble already in the microphone when using a head windscreen. The

These are immediately available again for the next use. The pre-attenuation button (PAD) also functions as an on/off switch. To prevent this from happening accidentally, it must be held down for about two seconds. The color of the operating LED also informs the user about the power supply status or the battery level. The color of the power LED also informs the user of the power status or battery charge level: blue indicates that phantom power is present; green means that the battery is fully charged; orange means that the battery charge is below 25% and will last for less than 50 hours of operation; red indicates that there is only enough power for a maximum of 20 hours; and when the LED flashes red, it is time to recharge the battery - it will only last for a maximum of 4 hours.
