Rode PodMic USB
Dynamic XLR/USB Speaker Microphone
Either the classic way via XLR with a good preamp/audio interface or you go digital via the USB-C jack with the microphone signal into a computer or a Smart- or iPhone®.
The audio interface built into the PodMic USB is first class - with an ultra-low noise high-gain preamp and audiophile A/D converters
.
Spectacular and extremely helpful is the DSP chip built into the PodMic USB. This allows you to give the speaker signal a highly professional sound already in the microphone with high-pass filter, noise gate, compressor and Aphex®.
To the left of the USB-C port is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so you can hear yourself without latency while recording (direct monitoring)
.
The headphone volume control has an integrated push button that allows you to switch from Direct Monitoring to computer signal. An LED under the USB-C connector informs about the respective status: green= microphone signal (Direct Monitoring) and red= signal from the computer or mobile device. The
PodMic USB weighs just under 1 kg and has a fork mount that can be used to attach it to a table stand or microphone arm and then conveniently point it towards the speaker
.
There is no need to use a spider, the microphone capsule itself is elastically suspended and the swivel mount is internally decoupled from the body, so you won't have any problems with structure-borne noise. The PodMic USB is designed to be picked up from the front, with an optimum distance of approximately 3 to 20 cm.
As a dynamic microphone, the PodMic USB is much less sensitive than a condenser microphone - ideal for studios and recording rooms where ambient noise is a problem.
ThePodMic USB can be updated with the latest firmware using the free RØDE Central configuration software
.
In addition, one uses RØDE Central to make the desired DSP settings in the microphone. Once done, the selected settings are retained. The
housing of the PodMic USB is made of solid brass and covered with a scratch-resistant ceramic coating, and the two-layer microphone basket is made of stainless steel. The PodMic USB is manufactured by RØDE in Silverwater, Sydney.
Includedare a clip-on foam pop shield and a 3m USB-C to USB-C cable
