Rode VideoMic Me-C+
A compact, almost 8 cm long mono directional microphone that significantly enhances the sound quality of audio and video recordings. It works with all smartphones that have a USB-C port and use Android 12 or newer - and thanks to MFi certification also with an iPhone, provided it has a USB-C port and uses iOS 17 or newer. The VideoMic Me-C+ is connected directly to the phone with its integrated USB-C plug - either facing forwards or towards the user, depending on the plug-in direction. A special retaining clip is included in the scope of delivery to ensure that the VideoMic Me-C+ is securely attached
. The 1/2" microphone capsule of the VideoMic Me-C+ has a pick-up angle of 90°. If you open both hands to the front at a right angle, you can easily see which sound sources are within the recording area. As a mono directional microphone, the VideoMic Me-C+ is generally recommended for voice recordings, as well as for any other type of sound source located in front of you or in the image section. Sound coming from the sides and from behind is largely ignored by the VideoMic Me-C+
. Pre-amplification and digital conversion (24 bit/48 kHz) are carried out to a high standard in the VideoMic Me-C+ itself. The recording signal is transmitted digitally, elegantly bypassing the smartphone's preamplifier. The 3.5 mm headphone socket built into the rear is a practical feature. If the app allows it, you can listen in while recording, but in any case you save yourself the hassle of switching from microphone to headphones.
The robust aluminum housing makes the VideoMic Me-C+ insensitive to interference, and the scratch-resistant ceramic coating ensures that it still looks good even after years of use. The WS9 comes with a deluxe windscreen that can be attached in a flash for outdoor recordings. The WS9 has a thick foam layer on the inside and, with its artificial fur, prevents the typical, disturbing air noise up to wind force 5.
