The microphone has a built-in DSP chip which, in conjunction with RØDE's free UNIFY recording/streaming software, allows the signal to be processed with a high-pass filter, equalizer, noise gate, compressor and the legendary Aphex® Exciter and Big Bottom. The result: a convincing professional voice sound, just like you would hear on a radio station or in a commercial. Using UNIFY, up to four XDM-100s can be connected to the computer simultaneously if required.

The XDM-100 features RØDE's proprietary Revolution® preamp, which pre-amplifies even quiet voices to a rich, completely noise-free level. The large diaphragm capsule of the XDM-100 has a cardioid polar pattern, the pick-up angle is 90° to the front, i.e. sound from the side and rear is significantly attenuated.

There is a 3.5 mm TRS socket at the front of the microphone body for connecting headphones; the rotary control above it determines the headphone volume, but can also be used to mute the microphone. The USB-C port is embedded in the base of the XDM-100.

The full range of functions is available when using the free UNIFY recording/streaming software. This offers a virtual 10-channel mixer with fader, solo and mute buttons in each channel, high-pass filter, compressor, noise gate and Aphex® signal processing, 8 freely assignable trigger pads with 8 bars each, native multitracknken, native multitrack recording, editing and exporting, high-resolution recordings in WAV format, export as MP3 file with 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps as well as access to the system control directly from UNIFY.
