Compatible with cameras with hot shoe and external microphone connector, the MKE440 from Sennheiser comes in a rugged all-metal housing. The two connected, tuned mini-shotgun microphones capture sound with extra precision.

A stereo microphone is required to reproduce a rousing, dimensional stereo sound. Most XY stereo microphones have a very wide pickup angle with the result that sound incident from the side or rear is often picked up unintentionally. The MKE 440 combines the advantages of both recording methods and supports the sound to the image while suppressing ambient noise off-axis of the camera focus. This means stereo sound without side effects! To protect the microphone from wind or or handling noise such as during fast movement, the MKE 440 has two layers of optimized wire mesh at once. This principle ensures that the MKE 440 can use the maximum audio bandwidth, unlike foam windscreens that attenuate high frequencies in particular. The sensitivity of the camera input can be adjusted to different audio levels of the sources via a three-step control. A low cut switch minimizes wind and grip noise. The microphone is powered by a battery, the output is connected via 3.5 mm stereo jack cable.
