External microphone in shotgun design
The DM-E1 shotgun-style stereo directional microphone provides superior sound recording for your videos. It easily attaches to the camera's hot shoe and connects to a wide range of compatible EOS cameras* via the 3.5 mm microphone input.
Brilliant, realistic sound
With a frequency range of 50 Hz to 16 kHz, you can record the full range of sounds at a concert, for example - from the high frequencies of violins and flutes to the low notes of an upright bass or bass guitar. Even quiet sound sources can be recorded with a sensitivity of up to -42 dB.
Versatile polar patterns
Give your videos an immersive soundscape by choosing from three different polar patterns. Easily switch polar patterns - 90° and 120° are ideal for high-quality stereo sound recording in rooms of different sizes, while Shotgun mode (mono) is used to selectively record individuals speaking directly into the camera without noise.
High-quality sound recordings
Sound recording without unwanted background noise - a cushioned microphone mount counteracts vibrations from the camera or lens; the included windscreen significantly reduces wind noise; a 66 dB signal-to-noise ratio reduces distracting background noise.
Lightweight
The compact and lightweight design makes the microphone easy to take anywhere. The combination of camera, lens and microphone results in a comprehensive recording unit that can be used comfortably for extended periods of time, even when filming hands-free. A lightweight lithium button battery keeps weight to a minimum.
*Not recommended for use with an EOS-1D Mark IV and an EOS 550D, as these cameras do not have manual volume control of the microphone input.
