3-in-1 microphone

The ECM-B10 uses beamforming technology and digitally processes the sound signals captured by the four high-performance microphone capsules. This allows users to select the sensitivity with which the microphone receives sound from different directions and thus adapt the recording to the respective requirements.

As the ECM-B10 combines three selectable polar patterns in a single microphone, users can easily switch between superdirectional, unidirectional and omnidirectional directionality. When the super directional polar pattern is selected, the microphone picks up sound coming directly from the front while minimizing noise from other directions.

This option is ideal for interviews, selfie recordings and other situations in which narrow sounds coming from the front need to be recorded.

The ECM-B10 also supports unidirectional directivity to capture sound coming broadly from the front while minimizing noise coming from the rear.

This option is ideal when recording conversations between multiple people. For even more flexibility, users can also select the omnidirectional polar pattern: Here, sounds from all directions are recorded with the same strength - ideal for recording ambient noise.

Crystal clear recordings

The ECM-B10 enables crystal-clear sound recording with effective noise minimization. Using its internal digital signal processing, the ECM-B10 effectively minimizes distracting noise to capture sound more clearly, reducing the amount of post-production work required.

The ECM-B10 can be connected to cameras equipped with an MI (Multi Interface) accessory shoe: either via the analog interface or - with compatible cameras - via the digital audio interface *1 to transmit the audio signals directly to the camera in digital form and thus achieve optimum results without loss of quality. In addition, the microphone design, which is designed to suppress shock and vibration, effectively minimizes low-frequency vibration noise.

As no connecting cables are required, no unwanted noise is transmitted to the microphone via cables. The supplied windscreen reduces wind noise, ensuring clear sound even when recording outdoors.

For added versatility, the ECM-B10 offers the following audio adjustment options:

• ATT (Attenuator) switch (0/10/20 dB).
• FILTER switch (Noise Cut/Low Cut/Off)
• AUDIO LEVEL control with AUTO/MAN (manual) switch
• DIGITAL/ANALOG switch

Numerous practical features

The microphone's compact housing ensures flexibility and mobility, even when using gimbals and handles. As the ECM-B10 can simply be attached to the MI shoe of a compatible camera, no additional cables are required. This prevents interference with a side-folding screen or external batteries and further increases recording flexibility. The microphone is powered directly from the camera, so users don't have to worry about dead microphone batteries.

Detailed adjustments can be made via a wide range of audio settings on the back of the microphone. This allows users to check at a glance that everything is set correctly. As the ECM-B10 is dust and moisture resistant *2, in combination with a dust and moisture resistant camera body and lens *3, outdoor recording is easy.

*1) The digital/analog switch, which can be used to select between digital and analog input type, is set to "Analog" at the factory. It is recommended to set it to "Digital" when connecting a camera with a digital audio interface. If the camera has an incompatible analog connection and the ECM-B10 is set to "Digital", a warning message will appear.
